Privacy policy

The short version

Pricy reads the public listing of the product page you are on, checks whether the same item is sold cheaper elsewhere, and shows you the answer. It does not know who you are, does not want to know, and has no account system that could find out. Nothing is ever sold to anyone.

Who we are

Pricy is a browser extension and the small service behind it. This policy covers both: the extension running in your browser and the Pricy server it talks to. Questions go to support@pricyapp.ai.

What Pricy processes

The extension runs on the pages you visit but acts only on pages it recognizes as product pages. Everywhere else it exits immediately and transmits nothing. On a product page it sends the listing's public details to our server: the product title, price, currency, page address, and product image address. That is the entire payload, and it exists for one purpose: finding and verifying the same product at a lower price.

What Pricy does not collect

No browsing history. No personal information: no names, emails, accounts, or profiles. No form inputs, passwords, or payment details. No cookies from the sites you visit. No page content beyond the product listing itself. Your settings (excluded sites, display currency, the fair-price note) are stored by your browser using Chrome's own storage, not on our servers.

Anonymous usage events

Store-installed copies of Pricy report three kinds of usage events: a deal card was shown, clicked, or dismissed. Each event carries a random install identifier (a UUID generated in your browser on first run), the extension version, and the scan it belongs to. The identifier is not derived from you or your device and cannot be traced back to you; we use it to count installs and to tell "one person saw ten deals" apart from "ten people saw one deal each". Development builds send no telemetry at all.

Where the data goes

The Pricy server runs on Vercel and stores its data in Supabase (both under our own accounts, in their EU or US regions). To verify a match, the product image address from the page is passed to two processors: a marketplace image-search service, which finds visually similar listings, and Google's Gemini API, which compares product photos to confirm the items are identical. Both receive product data only, never anything about you. When you click through to a deal, the destination is an affiliate link; the affiliate network later reports completed orders back to us so commissions can be counted. Those reports contain order and commission figures, not your identity.

What our server keeps, and for how long

Match results are cached for up to 48 hours so repeat checks are fast. Raw usage events and our own cost accounting are kept for up to 13 months and then deleted automatically; only aggregated daily totals (counts and sums with no identifiers) are retained after that. We keep no logs that tie an install identifier to an IP address.

How the money works

Pricy is free. When you buy through a deal link we may earn an affiliate commission from the marketplace. That commission never changes the price you pay, and it is the entire business model: there is no data monetization of any kind.

Your choices

You can exclude any site from checks with one click, from the deal card itself, the toolbar popup, or the options page. Uninstalling the extension removes everything stored in your browser, including the install identifier; the events already recorded remain anonymous and expire on the schedule above. If you want data tied to your install identifier deleted sooner, write to us with the identifier (visible in the options page) and we will remove it.

Security

All traffic between the extension and our server uses HTTPS. The database is not publicly readable; access is restricted to the server itself. Deal links are cryptographically signed so they can only point at verified matches from our own records.

Children

Pricy is a shopping tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

Changes to this policy

If the policy changes in any meaningful way, the date above changes with it and the new version appears here before it takes effect. We will never quietly expand what is collected.
