Frequently asked questions
Pricy is a free Chrome extension that finds the same product cheaper at its source. Here are the questions people ask most — about cost, safety, data, and how it works.
- Is Pricy free?
- Yes. Pricy is completely free, with no account, subscription, or trial. It earns an affiliate commission only when you buy through a deal it shows you, which is what keeps it free.
- How does Pricy make money?
- When you buy through a link Pricy shows, the seller may pay us an affiliate commission. That is the only source of revenue. It never changes which result we show — the cheapest verified match always ranks first — and the disclosure is printed on every card.
- Is Pricy safe?
- Yes. Pricy reads only the public product listing on pages it recognizes as product pages, and only to run the price check. It does not collect browsing history or personal data, and nothing is sold. All traffic between the extension and our server uses HTTPS.
- How do you find cheaper prices?
- When you open a product page, Pricy searches other marketplaces for the same item by its image — including the source listing a dropshipped product is resold from — and surfaces the cheapest match it can verify.
- How do you know it's the same product?
- Matches are image-verified: the same item, a single unit, in stock, with its price checked live. When we can't confirm a match with confidence, we show nothing rather than a guess.
- What data does Pricy collect?
- Only the product's public listing details — its title, price, currency, and image address — sent to our server to run the check. No browsing history, no personal information, and your settings stay in your browser.
- Does Pricy work on Amazon, Walmart, or Temu?
- Pricy deliberately stays quiet on large marketplaces like Amazon, AliExpress, and Temu, where a source-price comparison wouldn't tell you anything new. It works best on standard product pages, especially the smaller stores where markups are largest.
- Which browsers does Pricy support?
- Pricy is a Chrome extension and also runs on Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Brave.
- Will Pricy slow down my browsing?
- No. Pricy runs in the background, exits immediately on any page that isn't a product page, and does its network work off the page, so it stays out of the way while you shop.
- Does Pricy use coupons or cashback?
- No. Pricy is a source-finder, not a coupon or cashback tool. Instead of shaving a few percent off a store's price with a code, it looks for the same product cheaper at its source.
- Can I turn Pricy off on a specific site?
- Yes. You can exclude any site with one click — from the deal card itself, the toolbar popup, or the options page — and Pricy will stay silent there.
- Is Pricy the same as Honey?
- No. Honey applies coupon codes at checkout; Pricy finds the same item cheaper at its source. Pricy also earns only on the specific deal you click, rather than inserting affiliate tracking into other checkouts.
